After School Art

Monthly Cost: $35 monthly fee. This fee is due before the start of each month.

After School Art (ASA) offers a multidisciplinary approach and is part of a creative arts education, supplementing the school experience. A variety of projects are offered including painting, drawing, pottery, polymer clay, glass, weaving and more.
Time: 3:30 drop off. Kids have a snack and jump into projects! Pick up is 5:00 pm.
This class meets once a week, for 4 weeks each month. Send a healthy snack with your child. Water is available to art students. Parent drop off and pick up.
Remind App: We utilize the Remind app for communication about the ASA program. We will sign you up when you register and all communications take place within the app.
Registration: Registration is required for all classes. No walk ins!

Bring a fine tip sharpie marker. Other supplies included, but feel free to bring your own brushes if you prefer
May showers bring watercolor flowers! In this workshop, students will work on creating watercolor paintings of flowers.  We will be working from life, painting flowers that are in season.  We will also work from photographs, as well as making some creative artworks inspired by flowers.  Artists of any level are welcome!

Have you always wanted to try out the potter's wheel? Have you tried it a few times in the past but are rusty or want to learn more? Then this is the class for you, pick up an exciting new hobby in the new year! Learn the basic skills required to use the wheel: Centering, throwing, shaping, trimming, and basic surface decoration/glazing techniques. This class is best for students with zero to some basic experience on the potter's wheel. Class will meet weekly on Mondays from 6:00-8:00 pm for 6 weeks with a brief 15-30 minute meeting on week 7 to pick up finished work.

*Due to the small space in the pottery studio Instructor and students will wear masks for the safety and comfort of everyone.

The art center includes the use of our tools, equipment and provides clay/glaze for the general class. All students are required to help with cleaning the studio. It should look better than when you arrived!

Hot Tips: Bring an old towel with you. Feel free to bring your own apron. Pottery is best for trimmed nails, old clothes, and no jewelry. Stay home if you are sick, run down, or unwell. Please read our health and wellness policy. Policies

Stained Glass Class, Adults

6 week class meets Wednesdays, starting Feb 2

Cost $150

The cost includes all materials for this class to make one item, up too 12 x 12 inches. If students want to make an additional items, there is an additional material fee.

This class is for adult beginners. Returning students are welcome. You're on your way to building beautiful Stained Glass Window Art! Build your own stained glass piece from scratch using the copper foil technique. No experience needed. Students choose their pattern, pick glass from a large selections, learn to cut and solder for a completed piece.

If you are not feeling well for any reason, please stay home! No exceptions. Please read our health and wellness policy. Policies Glass Waiver for this class is required. No long sleeves or dangly jewelry that would get in the way of grinders and other tools. Closed shoes are best, due to loose glass pieces. Unfortunately, stained glass is not appropriate for pregnant ladies. Keep an eye open for fused glass!

Beginners ONLY, but a great continuation if you took Mikes class in the fall. Satisfy your curiosity, and experience a fun and thorough introduction to throwing on the potter’s wheel. Learn the skills necessary to throw cylinders, cups, bowls and more in this exciting introduction to throwing fundamentals. Your instructor guides you through the process of throwing, shaping and trimming pots on the wheel. Basic surface decoration and glazing techniques are also demonstrated. This class is designed for students with little or no experience on the potter’s wheel.

Wednesdays, Grades k to 5, from 3:30 to 5:00 pm

Bus available only from Third Ward Elem. You must notify your school and us before choosing the bus option. Parent drop off is also an option!

Snacks The Arts Center will provide bottled water. Please send your child with a healthy snack option.

Morning May Mugs Adults

Cost $30 Members and $36 Non Members.

$5 Clay Fee, bring cash to instructor

Coffee and tea drinkers welcome! We are creating our very own mugs and we are showing you how. Step by step, beginners welcome. Returning students also welcome. This is a fun introduction with lots of opportunity.

At the end of class, you'll have a one-on-one glaze consultation with your instructor to choose your glaze color. Class work is then dried, fired twice in our on-site kiln, and professionally glazed, and will be ready for pick up within 2 to 3 weeks from your class date. There is nothing like pottery to teach you patience! This class is meant to be fun! Take it as many times as you want. When you see beautiful pottery, what you did not see was the thousands of mugs the potter spent making prior to that one! Practice makes perfect!
