"Judy Van Gundy; A Life of Art & Craft” solo exhibition

  • The Arts Center 2 PARK ST ELKINS, WV 26241 US (map)

Opening Reception: Thursday, January 29th, from 5-7PM.

“Even as a child, I remember creating things. My friend and I would gather flowers, weeds, grasses, and leaves to make corsages and bouquets that we would sell from the front steps and sometimes sell door-to-door in the neighborhood. My Mom crocheted, knitted, and crafted “favors” for her bridge club. My Dad and both grandfathers had workshops in their basements. I got my first toolbox at about the age of 6. My one grandmother was an amazing seamstress, and I spent a lot of time with her watching and learning. I was fortunate enough to know my great-grandmothers, two of whom were quilters.

I guess I’m the product of many creative, talented people that I have been fortunate enough to have known and love. They were always encouraging and praiseful of my efforts. I still get a sense of them and their approval”

- Judy Van Gundy, 2025.
