“A native of Randolph County, and a resident of Valley Bend. A graduate of Davis and Elkins College with a degree in History and Political Science. I was ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston in 2004, and I serve the parishes of St. Brendan in Elkins, St. Patrick in Coalton, and St. Anne in Webster Springs as their Deacon and Pastoral Associate. Lifelong musician, with piano as my instrument of choice. I have performed for numerous weddings and other occasions. I have also served my church communities as their musician. My mother, Frances Godwin, taught piano lessons for 50 years and I consider her to be my main musical teacher and influence.
I truly enjoy all kinds of music, but, as a child of the 1960’s and 70’s, have a fondness for the rock and roll classics of that era. In addition, I have come to very much enjoy the music of the 1930’s through the 1950’s, the Big Band Era and the timeless standards of that time in our history. I love the music of the Beatles, Joni Mitchell, the Motown artists, such as Stevie Wonder, the Temptations and Marvin Gaye.
It is always an honor and a pleasure to perform at the Randolph County Arts Center, and I am grateful for the opportunities given me to do so” - Raymond Godwin.
This concert is not a part of our Brown Bag Concert Series.
