Kate Goodrich-Arling

Color and texture are part of my earliest memories. Over the course of a childhood moving around a great deal and a long career in natural resource management I've been fortunate to experience the tremendous variety of colors and textures in nature. Some of my artwork is a response to a particular location while other pieces grew out of a desire to convey emotions through the use of color. Using wool and other fibers in recent works has been a fascinating journey into texture as well as color. Kate was born in Colorado and grew up a military brat.  She was educated in natural resource management and worked for several state and federal agencies. She is recently retired from the U.S. Forest Service and a current resident of Randolph County. She is married to Dan Arling, a step-mom to two sons, and is a new grandmother.

A note from the artist. “"The support of fellow artists, staff, and board members at The Arts Center has been a key part of me taking a life-long need to create to on a more disciplined level. I greatly appreciate that!" ~Kate
