Art Instructor for the Arts Center
For the motivated, creative and enthusiastic artists! We offer classes and workshops in our studio spaces on site, designed by the artist. Our studio is your home when teaching art to the community. The Arts Center advocates for a greater understanding of the visual arts through the promotion of art education, exhibition, and community engagement.
What art mediums art taught in our studio space? pottery on wheel or hand building, stained glass, fused glass, needle felting, basket making, painting of all types, music lessons, and other traditional and non traditional forms of art. Who are you instructing? the community! Your choice of adults, teens, children, toddlers. We provide arts education to all walks of life and believe in equal access art. Beginners, intermediate, and advance levels offered at your discretion. When are you instructing art? Essentially you submit a class proposal with the dates that work in your schedule and we take it from there! Where are you instructing art? In our studio spaces at the Arts Center.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Engage and build rapport with students and families
Classroom encouragement-assistance and guidance to students with their art projects in class.
Classroom management with positive reinforcement
Excellent time management for projects based on the length of time set for the class or workshop
Collaborate with the Arts Center to ensure a safe, positive, and enriching experience for all students.
Passion for the arts and working with students
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and Art Center staff
Reliability, consistency and punctuality is a must
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing needs.
Prior experience in a classroom setting is preferred, but we are flexible with this. We will mentor young artists that are just getting started in the field!
Requirements:
Adhere to the Arts Centers Child Protection Policy and other policies of the Arts Center-obtain a background check
Utilize the “Instructor Call” proposal form to submit your class proposal
Commitment to your class and communication is a must
Exude professionalism in and out of the classroom setting. Instructors are visual and vocal ambassadors for the Arts Center.
HS Diploma is required
Art degree is a bonus, but not a requirement. Art knowledge and experience in field you instruct is a requirement. Some artists possess lifelong experience in their field and that is truly a gift!
