Dan Engstrom has been doing woodturning since Junior High School. In 9th grade his parents gave him a wood lathe for Christmas and he began to create all kinds of interesting things. College and career took precedence over woodworking until 2014 when he bought a new wood lathe and began making things again. Dan enjoys creating products that are both creative and practical. Some pieces begin as one solid piece of wood while others are a mixture of many different woods. He recently began making segmented products and incorporating epoxy to highlight the wood’s natural beauty.
Since his retirement in early 2024, Dan has been busy creating new work and preparing to exhibit at some local art and craft shows. To see more of his work, see his growing website at www.dbtturnings.com.
Dan is an active member of Artists at Work in Elkins, WV and Artistry on Main in Buckhannon, WV. Finally, if you are interested in a specially made piece, feel free to reach out to Dan at danengstrom@icloud.com.
