Art History Lecture, MAD

  • The Arts Center Elkins, WV 26241 (map)

Patrick Facemire, with Mountain Arts District, will host an arts history lecture. In this lecture, the theme is “The Image of the Artist”; learn about how artists are represented both figuratively and literally in their paintings, and learn all about things like why the Mona Lisa is a really boring painting, How the painter Caravaggio delivered his own head to the pope, Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s obsession with wombats, and how the artist George Bellows put himself in his paintings without painting himself in them.
