Heirloom Easter Basket Workshop Saturday, March 15 at The Randolph County Community Arts Center

Basket Workshop led by local fiber artist and basket maker Leslie Henderson will
be held at the Randolph County
Community Arts
Center on March 15th from 10:00 to 2:00.
Students will have the opportunity to work with
Henderson as they create their own heirloom
Easter basket.
Make a colorful and useful Easter Basket to call your own or give to someone
special. The solid wood bases will get these baskets off to a sturdy start. Leslie will hand dye reed to provide plenty of color and design options so that each basket will be unique. "Although I love to work with natural materials, each spring I am drawn to the bright colors of Easter Baskets." The class will include a reed dying demonstration.
Henderson has been making baskets for over 20 years. She sells and teaches a variety of fiber arts - including fabric weaving and crocheting as well as reed and bark basketry - throughout the region. She holds a Master's degree in Forestry. she is a member of the Mountain Weaver's Guild and exhbiits her work at Artists at Work in downtown Elkins.
Cost for the workshop is $40 and includes all basket supplies. Participants shoufd call the RCCAC office at 637-2355 for a list of common household tools to bring. This workshop will make a full day, so participants are encouragef to bring a dish for the pot luck lunch. Pre-registration is required. Local contributors support the arts education program at RCCAC, with financial assistance from the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts. The RCCAC, a non-profit organization promoting and supporting the arts in Randolph County and the surrounding areas, is located at the corner of Randolph Avenue and Park Street in Elkins.
