Summer Camps!
June, July and August 2008
The Randolph County Community Arts Center
Earth, Wind, and Water Nature Camp I
June 9-13 12:30-4:30
Third - fifth grades $125.00
Teacher: Nanci Fregonara
This week-long camp for 3-5th graders will combine exploring the natural world with cool art projects. From a worm’s eye view of our planet to the galaxy seen through the Hubble satellite, students will use art to reflect on what they’ve seen with science. Students will look closely at soil, air, water and then do projects such as rubbings, wind socks, and water paintings. The activities will be very hands-on and fun. The final activity of the class will include an installation piece (think Christo!) combining all the elements.

First - fifth grades $90.00

My Growing Garden!
July 7-11 9:30 to 4:00
Kindergarten - fifth grades $180.00
Teachers: Heidi Thompson and Virginia Hicks
Heidi Thompson and Virginia Hicks team up to offer this exciting summer camp for children in grades K-5. Inspired by a growing garden, students will use the media of pottery, printmaking, collage, and more to create wonderful works of art about insects, flowers, plants, fruits, and vegetables. Children's Literature and Art History will also be incorporated into the camp's theme by exploring books about garden life and artists who use nature and the garden as subject matter in art.
In addition to the dates listed above, students will need to attend a glazing workshop July 18, from 9:30 - 11:00am, to glaze the pottery made during the camp.
