Pre-School Multi Media Arts Classes
First Art Ventures
Monday 10:00 - 11:00 1 to 3 years $60
Teacher: Alison Siewny
Continuing participants will build on experiences from Early Fall, while newcomers can join toddlers exploring many wonderful “ART”ventures creating art along with their parents. Colors, shapes, textures and patterns will be explored through a variety of activities and art media including paint, clay, collage, printmaking and more! Students will experience creating and learning about art through a variety of activities including songs, stories, and art-inspired toys in a fun, positive educational environment.
Pre-K Art Ventures
Wednesday 1:00 - 2:00 3 to 5 years $60

Preschoolers ages 3 through 5 will have an “ART” venturous time creating art independently using a variety of media and techniques including: collage, pottery, painting, drawing, printmaking and more. Focus will be on learning how to independently use art tools such as scissors, glue and paintbrushes, as well as learning and using the elements of art. Students will experience creating and learning about art through a variety of activities including songs, stories, and art inspired toys in a positive educational environment. Activity times and projects will be age appropriate and will keep little fingers and minds engaged. Parents are welcome to join their child in class, but are not required to attend.

This class will be a continuation of the Early Fall session, though newcomers will be accomodated at this level. We will learn some basic signs and do some fun activities with books and songs all using the signs we learn in class. Signing is valuable for both hearing and hearing-impaired children, and is an effective way to communicate with infants.

This class will be a continuation of the Early Fall session, but newcomers will be accomodated at this level. Signing is for both hearing and hearing-impaired children. This class is age appropriate for 3 to 5 year-olds and their parents, or any adult who interacts with childrren. We will learn basic signs and practice with some fun activities using familiar books and songs.

Arts Classes for Kindergarten to 5th Grade
Print-a-Palooza
Monday 4:00 - 5:00 Kindergarten to 5th Grade $60
Teacher: Alison Siewny
Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will experience a palooza of printmaking projects including block printing, stencil printing, and printing with found objects using a variety of paints and inks. Pattern, composition and color mixing will be explored throughout these printmaking processes to produce quality artwork.

A sampler of techniques including: collage, printmaking, wire sculpture, polymer clay, and mobile. Students will learn the history of different techniques of expression as they create a range of images in a variety of media, while learning and developing their aesthetic sense.

A follow - up of the first course, This class will continue to examine the lives and work of significant artists throughout history. Students will create artworks based on the styles of the artists and the art movements of their day, and learn some history of art.

Pottery for Kids

Kindergarten to 5th Grade $65

While continuing development of sculptural ideas, children will form their slabs, coils, and pinch pots into fabulous creations of their choice in an open studio, self-directed setting. Basic hand building skills will be introduced and developed. Previously enrolled students will continue to develop and improve basic hand building skills.
Painting and Design

Teacher: Bill McWhorter
Teens and adults can experience the way form follows function in this course. Students will paint and draw in mixed media: acrylics and pastels, ink and collage while focusing on the elements of visual design. The goal will be to achieve integrity of composition.

Join fellow artists for camaraderie and support each Tuesday as the Great Hall becomes an open painting studio. Artists will need to bring supplies (including drop cloths if needed) and RCCAC will provide a comfortable space with coffee! Meets year round.
Drawing II

In this class we will concentrate on improving skills of observation while drawing. Emphasis will also be on the expressive quality of line and value as a means of achieving a unique personal style. Students will use the various expressive qualities of line, learn to model their drawings in a variety of ways, and learn to see their subjects in terms of light and shadow.

Intermediate to advanced artists can participate in this open studio. A wonderful opportunity to draw from a clothed model. Supplies not included. Tuition covers fees for the model.

Blues Music Jam

Smith
Continuing study of the musical language of the blues. Focus will be on the ability to play in an ensemble while learning the basics of the blues. Students will study and play various styles of blues with the goals of improving instrumental techniques, learning new chords and riffs, and performing. Students must have their own playable instrument.

Life
Tuesday 6:30 - 8:00 Teens and Adults $60
Teacher: Shana Horrigan
Learn life skills and principles that let you fill the canvas of your life with your own design. This course is for you if you are ready and willing to discover what you want out of life and what you can contribute here. What would it be like to have a clear vision of what you want to be “when you grow up”, no matter what stage in your life you are in? Learn to design a game worth playing and goals worth playing for. Experience bringing clarity, focus, ease, and grace to your life. This is an experiential course, using material from "The Energy of Money" by Dr. Maria Nemeth. Please bring a journal or notepad and pen with you.
Pottery and Sculpture Classes for Teens and Adults
Students enrolled in any scheduled RCCAC pottery course may enroll in Open Studio for a 30% discount. Open Studio time may not interfere with regularly scheduled classes and must be during office hours. Use of the kiln is restricted to firing works created at RCCAC for personal use. Not for commercial production firing.
First 25 pounds of clay with glazes included in the tuition. Each additional 25 pounds of clay with glazes $15. Limited enrollment of 6.
Hand & Wheel for Adults

Beginning students can learn the fundamentals of hand building and throwing on the potter’s wheel, including centering, raising the wall, thinning, shaping, and trimming. Intermediate students will refine their throwing / building skills and learn new finishing techniques to bring their pottery to a higher level, while experienced pottery students will have the opportunity to create independently.

A continuing creative clay experience, making sculptural and functional pieces of pottery. Students will learn slab techniques and throwing on the potters wheel, as well as glazing and firing. Intermediate students can refine their technique and develop existing skills. Beginners are welcome.

This workshop will introduce fun and exciting ways to use traditional motifs associated with Christmas, like the Christmas tree, the star, and the snowman in childrens artwork. Focusing on printing, collage, painting and drawing, all projects will be age appropriate and parent friendly. A variety of childrens books will be used alongside each project and a Christmas snack will be included.
